Steve Gibson (http://grc.com/) (love him or hate him) reports that Vista's rewritten network stack, through the various betas, has been shown vulnerable to a number of the exploits that more mature stacks (e.g. BSD's stack, the one MS used to quietly use) have fixed over the past decade! Yawn. What's the point? This thing will have a shelf life of 5.5 months at most and then it will be superceded by a more powerful model. Surely anyone who wanted an iPhone 4 (white or black) has bought one by now. How many holdouts can there SERIOUSLY be??

I do not assume any such thing. There were two issues involved in my post. One was about the motivation, and reaction about security. The other was more generalized about the disinformation campaign (FUD), I am witnessing on this board. I did not reference any particular post, content, or person in this thread. Is Apples Bluetooth tech anywhere near as completely useless as Logitech's bluetooth mouse tech?
I have a DiNovo bluetooth set and the mouse (suprisingly the most expensive mouse they sell) is almost criminally bad. If this represents the bluetooth signal as a whole for mouse movement then why in gods name is Apple making this? I cant even use my Logitech BT mouse because it only works normally for 10 minutes before it freaks out or just stops trying, I have to stick with RF from them (which is flawless).
I had one bluetooth mouse, macalley I think, threw it away very fast, also had one of the first logitech cordless desktop sets, worked like a charm, only down side was the need for some dongle, I would love a cordless keyboard and mouse that doesnt need a dongle, hence bluetooth, but Im going to read a dozen reviews first before I even try anything bluetooth again. Lets hope apple fixes the problems they had with corded MM.... :o

So this is a headline article based on a diagnosis and opinion of an Apple Genius Bar technician? In additoin, it is coming from a reader on Gizmodo. It may or may not be true that 20-30% dropped call is expected for those areas, but why headline this article when it is merely coming from the voice of an Apple store representative? It is very deceptive and may trick people into believing that this is a factual statement coming from AT&T themselves. Too many people on the internet always believe what they read from any source and that is why the legitimate journalist are p o'd about the future of journalism and reportings.

I'm not saying that there are no service issues, but I wonder if they would be any better at Verizon (who refused the iPhone) or Sprint or T-Mobile.....or anyone else.

Because that customer's service has been suspended due to non-pay. Trust me a customer care rep does not get this info... They are going off of what they hear in the media. Let's say the phone is coming out in the fall, Apple and all other companies have to wait for official announcement to give out info. That was some reps personal opinion...:rolleyes:

Apple revamped their entire line of computers this year, a massive change over to a new CPU architecture and sales have increased accordingly. What more do you want from them exactly?
Well, first of all, when I say iPod, I am including all things music/movies, iTV, etc. To put it very simply, I wish Apple would use more of the innovative spirit that is going into their "entertainment" branch and put it back into their computers.

I thought the latest rumor was for the 5 to retain the form factor of the 4 with no redesign till the 6 next year.
I like what I see here and will definitely be a player for it when and if it materializes.
I don't like the 4's thick and heavy look at all so for me this is a step in the right direction.

I LOVE the new design. And this is also why I love Apple. They don't listen to all of the whiners who hate change like some companies do. They let their designer and engineers do what they do best. If Apple listened to all of the complainers here over the years, we'd have Windows, on a Dell PC, with a Palm Treo in a holster on our belt.
Personally I like the iPad iCal design better than in OSX and I'm looking forward to this in Lion.

It's about time. But I've had a wireless mouse/keyboard set when I got my iMac G5 Rev. A back in the day, and I quickly got rid of it. I was sick and tired of changing the damn batteries every few weeks. I never mouse or type away from my desk, so I had no use for it, and I'd rather have the ugly wires than deal with the annoyance of buying/changing batteries often. Now, if they were rechargeable (in a dock, I don't want to have to take them out and put them in a seperate charger), I could see using them.

Oh Apple Mail has a To Do list. And Notes. But the Calendar is a separate app, as is the Address Book. So why not also have a separate To Do and Notes application? Oh, because they're stored as special formatted email messages in Mail.app, that's why. So how about integrating Calendar and Address Book better in Mail. It's a mess.
