The main reason I bought the current MBA in January was for the C2D/Nvidia combo and I love it. It handles everything I throw at it including gaming on the LAN with my son. My fear is that the next MBAs will be graphically crippled compared to the current models. But time will tell. :)
Also, my current MBA runs silent and cool. Seeing all the current heat issues with MBs and MBPs running Sandy Bridge it will be interesting to see how cool or silent the SB MBAs run.
Thats probably because the new MBPs completely obliterate the MBA in terms of specs. Run a photoshop render, any render you like, on both machines, you'll see a HUGE difference. The are quiet up till around 70c, which only happens when gaming or doing anything CPU intensive, the same as the MBA.

Great. Really screwed a lot of the world on pricing. In the UK, we have 20% VAT, but that doesn't mean that Apple should then scrape an additional �200 on top of this thinking users won't notice.
And don't just say it's more expensive. They are all manufactured in China.

Base iMac is $1,199 and �999. $1,199 is currently �727 in a straight conversion. So let's see:
�727 * 1.20 = �872.40 (VAT)
�727 * 1.08 = �58.16 (Additional cost of doing business in UK)
�872.40 + �58.16 = �930.56
Difference: �68.44
Now I can never remember how this works but I *think* there's an additional 3.5% import duty which would account for a further �25.45 which brings the extra cost down to 42.99, or just about 6% of the US price. Considering Apple also have to allow for currency changes that's hardly a rip off.

Hi,
I'm thinking of switching from Verizon to AT&T to get the iPhone. However, I'm hearing horror stories of up to 30% dropped calls in the NY area.
For all iPhone/AT&T users in northern NJ and NYC area, can you verify that you experience around 30% of dropped calls?? is this true??

There are many reasons for this. The crowd of Apple lovers wanted more from Macworld than what they got, and the market has been terrible lately. Their second quarter revenue predictions were very conservative, and some people think they have shone the brightest they will ever, and just don't think their worth it. I disagree, but as much as I would like to be, I'm not the stock market.

How reliable has Bloomberg been in the past? If they have a good track record, then this could actually be the first good sign that the iPhone 5 is delayed.
However, the article cites a random Toronto "analyst" as the basis for the delayed 5, and a tweet as the basis for the white version coming soon (in addition to two supposed informants).
I'm still convinced that Apple has done a good job of tightening up it's leaks this year, and we're seeing desperation from the tech sphere for any news. Does anyone remember the extremely crazy rumors from earlier this year? I have a feeling lots of plugs were leaked at that time, and this could be Apple testing security prior to WWDC.

And then these femtocells. If they (the provider) can't give you access you're paying for, is it really fair that they charge you on top of what you're already paying, to sell you a device that is supposed to boost the service you're already paying for?

no, it's not fair - esp if other providers have good coverage in that same area. it's like you are triple paying - femtocell, wireless phone, and internet - just to get wireless phone which you were already paying for.
however for me, no cell provider has decent coverage in our home based on terrain/location so i will absolutely pay extra to get better cell coverage in our house - although it really hasn't been too hard to use the vonage line instead of the cell when we are home...but I would love to be able to get cell service for texting especially while in my basement theater/pub area.
and, yes i have already installed a cell booster in the attic without significant success.

Anyone considered how this (technically) will work? How will the iPod detect where your hands are?
I seem to remember a rumour about apple developing a display which emebdded motion sensors or CCD's between the pixels in a screen. Could this be what they will use to see/sense what you are doing.
As an aside, it would be cool if they could inplement this into all their screens. How cool for flicking between pics of a laptop of changing songs in itunes.. endless posibilities!

Phil Schiller recently that it isn't going to happen. "absolutely not, the R&D would be prohibitive and we�re not going to do it. Our solution is dual boot." Android doesnt really cater to the female population unless they are tech nerds. Apple caters to anyone that doesnt care about manipulating your phone. Im actually kinda shocked android has more devices using its OS than Apple does. Most people like simplicity. For me though, android is the way to go. iOS got stale a long time ago.

Apple just released its quarterly, and while it was higher than apple's expectations it did not meet analyst's expectations.
