All you need to do is look at him to know that it's not a show. He definitely wants publicity, but I don;t think it's going to get him the results he wants. Most people I know are horrified and of the opinion that he just ruined his career. I have to agree.

I think with both Sheen and his producer (Chuck Lorre) he is fighting against, people will eventually forget this whole mess over what appears to be control on the show. It's not the first time a show's boss and it's top star have clashed. The series makes so much money that some infighting and typically huge and unrealistic egos will end up on page 10, and then disappear. When "Friends" was on, the backstage stories were giant, but now that the show is a memory, people will believe they are "friends". ;)

Sheen has probably always been this out of control, and the same with other actors, producers, directors, and other powerful people in Hollywood. It's sad to see a person sink this low, but it doesn't shock me being in the field he is in with other meltdowns (Kramer-dude, Mel Gibson, Tom Cruise, Phil Spector, and others).

The same field that attracts independent, creative, and motivated individuals has many of those same individuals fashion themselves as larger than life. They start to believe their own press releases.

Actually, you know what I missed out?
    SpotLight! ....

Don't have any use for Expose, but I use Spotlight quite a bit.

Panther was fine for me; if I'd stuck with that version, then I probably would have been OK.

    That's a neat trick, but it's still a crash. ... :)

OSX was my problem, which I did find surprising.

I think we're just polar opposites. I've been fine with all versions of OS X. I use Expos all the time but I may have used Spotlight like 5 times. Of course if we had Tiger at work I'd probably use it a lot more!

If you look at the illustrations, this is far larger than an iPod screen, especially for two handed control as depicted. Not that the tech can't be used for an iPod, but my guess this is going to be a tablet-like device positioned somewhere between the iPod and iMac. Steve Jobs and Apple have stated before that the Intel deal lets them envision a whole range of products not out there, especially fast chips that use less power. Also, macsimimumnews has revealed a trademark filing for a "doPod" that seems to suggest an iPod on steroids.

I believe this is a companion device that's not quite a full mac, but more functionality than an iPod, and be sized somewhere in between. At home, it could connect to your network and control your music through AirPort Express, or movies on FrontRow through your TV. Or you can take it with you and watch movies, check email, or read books (tying in the Engadget rumor on books). To keep the price point reasonable, I imagine it will be mostly a "player" rather than running full-fledged apps, but something like e-mail could be possible with the touch screen.

I'm guessing that the touchless interface could be a major part of Leopard and point to a new breed of hardware and form factors that Steve J and Apple have been hinting at.

    Nice.

Too tired to even troubleshoot longer.
But for anyone who wants to give me a tip.

I restarted both iPad and iMac.
    Deleted and Re downloaded ipsw
    Hard reset iPad
    No dice. Never JB btw.

    Is iTunes up-to-date?

Games. Don't tell me you want to play WoW on a 11" monitor.

I want to. Stop projecting. The 11" MBA will become my only computer when I get it in a few months and that includes playing the odd game, possibly including WoW.

Heck, the *iPad* could probably be my only computer with a keyboard dock if it did untethered OS updates and could compile LaTeX documents natively. But you're probably about to burst now so I'll stop.

You have to realize one thing. Without market share, company like Apple can not make profit.

    To wit:

Market share has no correlation with profit.

    We got them!
Well, we may pass each other back and forth a few times before we can really pull away...
Next target: 2.3 weeks away! Keep Folding!

And a little pat in the back as I just took the #8 spot on the team. Watch out this week #7! After it gets more tricky and WhiteRabbit is coming behind faaaaast...

looks like we're ahead now i think

That dang i7 is going back to normal units until I can figure out why it is so sloooooow... like a tortise...

    how slow?

i engaged an octo late last week, will set up another tomorrow. they both run 24/7.

the graphic designers using them rarely require more than 1 core anyway :)

alright! nice! let us know how they are doing, and run the bigadv units if you can

    This is the important part:

Apple's iPhone 4 ranked as the top-selling mobile phone in the U.S. during the quarter, and perhaps most surprisingly, the iPhone 3GS took second place in the rankings. Despite essentially being a nearly two-year-old device . . .

    That speaks volumes.

I feel bad for all of you GSM iPhone users. I really do.

Meanwhile I'm enjoying a flawless iPhone experience on my CDMA iPhone 4. ;)

I upgraded to 4.2.7 four hours ago and my battery has gone down from 52% to 48% (with moderate usage). So.. yeah. Pretty much unchanged at this point. :D

While "great deal faster" is fuzzy language open to interpretation, IMO I don't consider 10 Gbps TBolt to be a "great deal faster" than 6 Gbps SATA. TBolt can't handle two SATA connections at full bandwidth - that's not a "great deal faster" in my opinion.

When it was called "Light Peak", the technology had a lot of promise. Now that it's been downgraded to daisy-chained copper - it's only a little bit better than USB 3.0. Except that we can buy USB 3.0 devices, it's still "in the future" for TBolt devices.

You always seem to forget that Tbolt is a dual bidirectional 10Gb/s channel technology, so in fact it can handle 4 SATA connections, 2 upstream and 2 downstream. With room to spare. On a single port.

But besides the raw speed of TBolt, it's the variety of devices that will be available: high-end storage, audio and video, docking equipment, etc., and the fact that PCIe-class devices will finally be available for computers without PCIe slots. It's perfectly sound for a company like Apple with 90% of their computers without PCIe slots, to pioneer that kind of technology.

Copper or optical wouldn't have change a thing except the max. length of the connection (up to 100m instead of 3m). And FWIW, the only devices you can buy today in USB3 are marginally faster (than FW800) single storage units, and there are already single solid-state drives that are faster than USB3 (http://www.ocztechnology.com/ocz-vertex-3-sata-iii-2-5-ssd.html). A couple of video devices that are already obsolete due to some TBolt announcements, and not a single audio interface. No need to trash TBolt because it can't handle $50,000+ devices (RAID Arrays of SSD on 16x PCIe cards) that only a handful of people worldwide will ever buy. As for the "low-end" ioDrive duo, prices range from $9,000 to $12,000 (320/640GB).

Somehow I'm glad Tbolt is not fast enough to handle those devices, I also need a new car.

    LOLOLOLOLOLOL....

Does this also mean that T-Mobile users are stuck with only the white one?

I say get one with the lower pricing before the AT&T deal goes through - so AT&T has to honor your 2 year T-Mobile contract.

I have a nicely priced old voice plan and would like to add the $10/month 250MB data plan... ;)

BTW - is this just an unlocked iPhone 4 that someone put on T-Mobile and is passing around this rumor? :D

If you are referring to the 200mb for $10/month for T-mobile. It only works for recent voice places, not grandfathered. I already tried several times. It's retarded :/

The word "same" never occurs in the text, which never contemplates multiple installs.

It says you can't use it in a virtual machine. End of story. End of discussion.

Vista Business and Ultimate include additional licenses to also run the same licensed copy of Vista running natively on the licensed device in a virtualization environment as well.

In other words, if you purchase or build a PC with Windows Vista Ultimate, you can use that same installation and license to install it in a virtualization environment on that same platform. That goes beyond what has been done on any other platform for virtualization, and why the limitation is specifically delineated on Vista Home:

You may not use the software installed[1] on the licensed device[2] within a virtual (or otherwise emulated) hardware system.

[1] This means "the software" (i.e., Vista Home Basic or Premium) is already installed on a licensed device.

[2] The "licensed device" is the device that Vista Home is already installed on, and that license may not be reused to also install it in a virtualization environment, which you CAN do with Vista Business and Ultimate, because Microsoft includes additional licenses specifically for virtualization use, which is why there are all these specifics about virtualization use on the lower end Vista versions in the EULA in the first place.

The Vista Business/Ultimate EULA on the same topic states:

    6. USE WITH VIRTUALIZATION TECHNOLOGIES. You may use the software installed on the
licensed device within a virtual (or otherwise emulated) hardware system on the licensed device. If
you do so, you may not play or access content or use applications protected by any Microsoft digital,
information or enterprise rights management technology or other Microsoft rights management
services or use BitLocker. We advise against playing or accessing content or using applications
protected by other digital, information or enterprise rights management technology or other rights
management services or using full volume disk drive encryption.

This is because Vista Business and Ultimate include additional licenses so that you can use the same copy, legally ALSO within a virtualization environment on that same system. This is more than is possible with any other commercial OS, from a licensing perspective. The restrictions on Vista Home are ONLY restricting you from using it in a VM on the device where it's already installed. If you buy Vista Home standalone as a retail box, and it's not installed anywhere else, you are free, legally and technically, to use it in a VM to your heart's content.
