That was exactly my situation - working on H1 and having EAD just in case. I was not planning on changing jobs and H1 was just extended for another 3 years so I think I waited almost a year (after EAD expired) before applying for EAD renewal. I do not see why you cannot file it from outside the US if you file by mail. There will be an issue if you e-file as you will have to appear at the ASC to have your picture taken. So file by mail, all you need to send is form I-765, a copy of I-485 receipt, a copy of current (old) EAD, 2 photos and a check for $340 payable to DHS.

The local office will not issue an EAD. Rather, they will contact the Service Center which will typically issue the EAD within two weeks.

Hi Guys,
I Fedex my 485 package on July, 11th and it got reached to USCIS on July, 12 (I have the acknolegement) but still did not receive the receipt number. I am seeing who filed after me started getting receipt numbers.
I am kind of concerned about it as I did not see any movement in my case.
Any inputs Or wondering if anybody else facing similar situation??????

In your euphoria, please don't forget that we have a long struggle in front of us and Immigration Voice needs all the support that you can give.

After all, the system has only 140,000 numbers for the entire EB categories for each year. Go figure! Democracy gives votes for the citizens. You aren't even close to being one to even speak up. You are still an Alien. If you don't like it, feel free to be a citizen of the country that you are from.
Just because you pay tax, no one is answerable from the government to you, forget an apology. Taxation has got nothing to do with your right to vote. Right to vote is what is important in a democracy so that if the majority of the people don't like what is happening, they can make the change happen by their vote when the time comes.
Apology from USCIS???? For what? USCIS is just an agency. They do not even make the laws. They just process the applications as per the law.
You are right about we are Aliens, you are right that we are not citizens of US and thus have no right to vote. You know why politicians ignore us, they know by the time we get our GC and then our Citizenship we all will be long dead.

Are you exempted from cap if you were on H1B in last 6 years or your received your H1 B in past 6 years?
I was on H1B from feb 2001 to Aug 2004 and then moved to F2 and then H4 Will I still be exempted from cap though my initial H1 has been more than 6 years old.

I believe you are in New York. Next time try the direct flight from Mumbai to Newark. I heard thats the best my friend just tried it and he was going gaga about it. I am sure your inlaws can manage Chennai to Mumbai. What are the chances u can find someone who can speak Tamil ,Telgu in Mumbai than in Brussles or any other stopoever in Europe. :-)

Lufthansa, Emirates, KLM are all in Rs 57,000 to Rs 65,000 INR range.
Only thing we are worried about is connecting in Burssels, I guess that should be fine if we ask for a wheelchair.

It seems odd that there has been so many RFE for photos. I am not sure if the request for photographs is because USCIS is simply loosing them.
I got photos taken from a professional place and met all the specs. But yet i got an RFE for additional photos.
I have bought tickets for travel in 2 weeks. I may have to postpone my trip now because of this RFE delay.
It took 2 weeks for the RFE to arrive by mail. Too much time is getting wasted....
I wonder why they cannot combine the EAD and AP as one document.

Our files assinged to Adjudicating officer on Nov 30th. (PD is current ) Nothing happend sofar.
