I'll check out the lines around 4. I'm not waiting for more than an hour. If I can't get one today I'll be putting off my purchase for awhile.

    I don't see it.

Apple can offer nothing but slightly better integration with it's own devices in this space. There are already many, many wonderfully design sets that do a ton of things from 3D to web apps in the market. Like it was mentioned in the piece, profit margins are too low.

Airplay integration as others have pointed out is what will happen.

Exactly in the same boat except my 3G has a shattered screen with bits of glass that has fallen off. It has gone through hell and back but, I decided to wait since June is only a short wait away. Now, supposedly its been pushed back to september and I am planning on getting a new phone in either june or july since I will have some extra cash and can move to verizon on a family plan. I dont want to get the 4 when the new one is right around the corner. So, this pushing back to september means I'll probably move to the Droid. Hopefully the announcement is still in june and these rumors are just to throw us off since the last iPhone announcement wasnt very exciting since we all knew what was coming.

Even more entertaining is the fact that Apple is so arrogant they fail to realize how stupid they look.

    Suing their biggest vendor.

It doesn't get any more stupid than that.

Do you honestly think Apple don't know what they're doing? They're the most successful company in tech today. And they got there by doing virtually the opposite of what everyone else is. Seems they've got the technology game (including the litigation game) all figured out.

Samsung doesn't have consumers on their side. Apple does. Samsung doesn't make the hottest products in tech. Apple does. Samsung make internals. That's a mater of logistics.

Whoever has the consumers attracts business. And consumers are tripping over each other to get Apple gear.

Besides, these phone patents have nothing to do with supply agreements, nor will they have any effect on supply agreements, so you can stop *wishing* that it will.

Even if you want to court insanity and assume one will affect the other, Apple has an insane amount of leverage, rendering Samsung as just another supplier among several. In terms of meeting Apple's capacity needs, Apple always has a plan B. It's safe to assume they've got one now. They're pretty untouchable when it comes to planning ahead. Sometimes they can't anticipate just how insane the demand is for their products, but a lot of companies would love to have that problem.

expensive, why not go MBP + nice LED Screen + SSD?
MBP doesn't have a fast enough GPU. I use my iMac primarily for development. Need raw GHz, not so much multiple-cores.

if you are selling 24", it will go for dirt

Won't sell it. It'll be handed down to family.

I wonder what's next? Maybe the reincarnation of Clippy's Spirit? Maybe an animated pigeon pops up when you start the upcoming Email application and asking, if you want to send an email today?

Yes it was, as you were claiming to "know" that it was faked. Claiming that was offensive in the very least.

it's an observation, whether you like it or not. But anyway, my post didn't revolve around that point, you just blew out of proportion. Claiming i'm "bored" in your little rant is comical.

Well Apple has used up all the "big cat" names like Tiger and Lion which means that either OS 11 is underway or they will be in the embarassing situation of having to use lesser cat names which imply "less".

    Ocelot, Cheetah, Cougar, Fluffy, etc......

I for one am ready for OS 11.0 "Merlot"

Stan: "Surprise! I got us a second wife. You know, to help with cooking and cleaning. Her name's impossible to pronounce, so I just call her Thundercat."

Thundercat FTW. Why not, what with Thunder Bolt!

    Wine??? Nooooo.

Furthermore, one of the MOKB flaws is just a bug and is not actually a security vulnerability. The dmg vulnerability, wherein a malformed disk image can crash OS X and during this inject uknown code, has been debunked according to this guy (http://alastairs-place.net/2006/11/dmg-vulnerability/).

Indeed on first read, I'd say that he presents a convincing argument. I'll go along with his diagnosis that there's no hole that could open you up to arbitrary code execution. If that's your definition of a security hole, then it follows that there's no security hole there. But it's still leaving you open the possibility that the operating system may crash for no apparent reason, causing you to lose any unsaved work.

Lost work... Depending on how productive you are, that can easily result in monetary damage being done.

As I posted previously, that leaves you in no worse a situation than you always are if you're running a desktop computer without a UPS. But I think that it still warrants attention.

At best it still qualifies as an inconvenience, because the savvy user who saves her work regularly will only have lost 5 or 6 minutes of productivity including the reboot. At worst, it can result in hours of lost work for the user who doesn't understand the "save your work" mantra -- especially if we're talking about somebody who's protected by a battery backup and doesn't think that unexpected reboots should be possible on such an inherently stable operating system.

And it's undoubtedly a bug inside Apple's software that's causing this problem, therefore it is absolutely appropriate that Apple should be expected to fix it. I appreciate anybody's effort to bring such bugs to light, because that increases the probability that Apple will find out about it and fix it.

So the iPhone went from being pummeled by Android to now just being badly beaten.

    That is Awesome.

There is not a single Android device that outsold the iPhone 3GS. That is pathetisad...

The answer here seems so obvious, how did Apple miss it?

Bring over some of the nice eye candy features from the iPad, like animated calendar pages, but leave the clean professional look alone. I hate using Outlook for calendars and now iCal looks ridiculous and wastes more space than anyone could imagine...what's a man to do?

Seems to me like you are trying to say something there
Well, ok then, I will look into it again, just don't hold your breath :p
If I can maybe we could catch back up to team Lithuania, they haven't gotten very far ahead of us, so maybe we could do it, 'course it would help to get some more people folding for us.

I also haven't gotten gpu2 to work on either of my gtx 260's, I think it might be a driver issue because it is a problem for a lot of people in XP and Vista as well

wait, you cant get gpu2 to work in windows?

I did a complete reinstall of folding@home and it is now doing a bigadv wu :)
    Finally!

wu 2683 r12c9g7 looks to be about 27 min per frame.

dang that's fast. on a 2.26 mac pro? it's taking me like just under or right at 36 min on my i7 920 running at 3.5 ghz. hey now, if you could do these on your 920 then you could really put up some points

I haven't read all the messages, but I'm wondering....
How many of you that have been waiting and whining actually took the plunge this morning? I can say for a fact that I did. Just curious to see how many people are still saying, "...But, the MBP still lacks a male genitalia insert port."
Cynical, you say? Yes, I've been on these forums long enough to see people constantly complain for the next best thing, even on new release days.

    Anyway, here's my order again (because I'm ***** excited) :D :

MacBook Pro 15-inch Glossy Widescreen Display
    2GB 667 DDR2 SDRAM - 2x1GB
    2.33GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
    Apple USB Modem
    Backlit Keyboard/Mac OS - U.S. English
    160GB Serial ATA Drive @ 5400 rpm
    Accessory Kit
    SuperDrive 6x (DVD+R DL/DVDRW/CD-RW)
